Carney Faces Challenges as Canada Seeks to Lure Global Investors
Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to address investors at the Canada Investment Summit next week, but his government faces a challenge in making Canada's most sought-after assets 'investible' for large global institutional investors. According to the research arm of Canada's largest pension fund, some fund managers find it difficult to invest in Canadian energy and transportation assets at scale.
Meanwhile, Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd. and Headwater Exploration Inc. announced a $10 billion all-stock merger that will create Canada's only publicly traded pure-play producer focused on the prolific Clearwater oil play in northern Alberta. The merged company would hold over 1,500 sections of land, more than 300 million barrels of oil equivalent in proved and probable reserves, and over 3,000 identified drilling locations.
