Albertans have contributed $285.1 billion more to the federal government than they received in transfers and services from 2007 to 2024, thanks to their higher incomes and strong economy fueled by the oil and gas industry.

The federal government's policies, such as Bill C-69 and Bill C-48, have undermined Alberta's economic engine, making it less attractive to top talent and investment.

Despite some progress made by the Carney government in canceling the consumer carbon tax, there is still much work to be done to address the legitimate frustrations of Albertans.

The federal government could meaningfully address these concerns by undoing damaging policies that disproportionately impact the energy industry.
