Cathay Pacific Slashes Fuel Surcharges Amid Middle East Tensions Easing
Cathay Pacific has announced that it will be reducing passenger fuel surcharges across all its routes starting May 16. This move comes after a relaxation of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and subsequent shifts in international oil prices.
The airline will see a decrease of nearly two hundred dollars in fuel surcharge for long-haul routes connecting Hong Kong with destinations in the Southwest Pacific, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This reduction will fall from HK$1,560 to HK$1,362.
In addition to this, passengers traveling on medium-haul flights to and from the South Asian subcontinent will experience a decrease from HK$725 to HK$633. Short-haul flights not specified in these categories will see their levy decreased from HK$389 to HK$339.
