CBOT Grains Rally Amid Geopolitical Tensions and Supply Chain Disruptions
Grain and oilseed futures on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) rose on Tuesday, September 1. The uptick was led by soybeans, with November futures increasing by 1.24% to $484.18 per ton.
Wheat prices also gained momentum, as December SRW wheat futures settled at $7.825 per bushel, up 8.5 cents from the previous day. This rally was largely driven by geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions in the Black Sea region.
Corn futures followed suit, with the December contract gaining 1.54% to $214.96 per ton. Strong US processing demand, particularly for ethanol production, provided additional support for corn prices. In July, 474.7 million bushels of corn were used for ethanol production, up 2.3% from June and 3.75% from a year earlier.
