CBOT Wheat Falls on Ukraine Port Worries Amid Soybean Gains
Wheat futures fell on Friday as traders adjusted their positions ahead of the weekend. The decline was attributed to reports that Ukraine was discussing possible methods to keep vessels moving through its Odesa ports, which weighed on wheat markets.
However, Ukraine's agriculture minister denied any alternative mechanisms were being considered to ensure Black Sea grain exports.
The North Dakota crop tour reported average hard red spring wheat yields at 48.0 bushels per acre, down one bushel from the previous year but above the five-year average of 45.8 bu./ac.
Soybean futures rose despite losses in crude oil, with forecasts calling for hot and dry Midwestern weather over the next two weeks providing support.
