Cenovus Hits Milestone as Production Surpasses One Million Barrels Per Day
Cenovus Energy Inc., one of Canada's largest oil producers, is on track to surpass a key milestone in production. The Calgary-based company announced that its total upstream production will range from 970,000 to 1.01 million barrels per day, exceeding the midpoint of its earlier forecast by 25,000 barrels per day.
This marks an increase from its previous range and is expected to be achieved as early as July, with average monthly production surpassing one million barrels per day for the first time. The company's largest asset, Christina Lake, has been averaging 400,000 barrels a day for the month of July, contributing significantly to this growth.
Cenovus's acquisition of MEG Energy last year has also played a crucial role in its increased production. The deal closed in November 2025 and has allowed the company to tap into new resources directly next door to its existing assets.
