CENTCOM Destroys Three Iranian Oil Tankers in Retaliation for Attack on US Warships
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has revealed that it destroyed three Iranian crude oil tankers on September 5, in response to Iran's targeting of two US Navy warships.
CENTCOM stated that its forces conducted airstrikes on the three tankers after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard fired ballistic missiles at the US warships. The attack was 'unprovoked,' and none of the American forces were harmed.
Following the failure of the Iranian attacks, CENTCOM disabled two Iranian Revolutionary Guard oil tankers: the Dauni off the coast of Kharg Island, and the Stark 1 near Jask. These vessels were permanently taken out of service.
The third tanker, Kilo (also known as Noxen), was completely destroyed in the Gulf of Oman after being targeted at multiple locations. The crew had been ordered to evacuate the ship before it was destroyed.
