The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has targeted five Iranian crude oil carriers in response to attacks by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
CENTCOM said that the action followed two separate ballistic missile attacks on a US Navy warship, which successfully evaded both attacks.
The incident occurred over the past two days and comes amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States.
