Central Banks Add Record Gold Reserves Amid Shift in Trend
The World Gold Council has reported that central banks have made positive headlines on gold in recent times. According to the council's data, central banks added a net 123 tonnes of gold to their reserves in the first quarter of this year.
This represents an increase of 22% compared to the same period last year. The World Gold Council notes that this is a significant shift in the trend, as central banks had been reducing their gold holdings in previous years.
The council also reports that the total gold reserves held by central banks have now reached a record high of 34,300 tonnes.
