Central Banks Cut Gold Buying by 187 Tons

Central bank gold purchases for the first quarter of 2026 have been revised sharply lower, according to Peter Spina at GoldSeek.com. In a recent update, Spina reported that central banks acquired significantly less gold than previously believed, with only 57 tons purchased in the first quarter.

This is 187 tons less than earlier estimates, as noted by the World Gold Council. Spina also highlighted that central banks set a record in the second quarter, purchasing 289 tons of gold.
