Central Banks Set New Record for Gold Reserves Amid Price Weakness
Global central banks have reached an all-time high in gold reserves, surpassing 36,664.5 metric tons and holding nearly 17% of all gold ever mined.
This milestone was achieved despite a struggling gold price, which has dipped to $4,052.30 per troy ounce after falling 2% last Friday.
The United States remains the largest holder of central bank gold, with over 8,133 tons worth approximately $1.06 trillion.
However, other nations are catching up, with Poland emerging as the world's most aggressive buyer, purchasing 165 tons in 2025 and 63.6 tons so far in 2026, making it an investment of roughly $21.6 billion at current prices.
