Central Banks Stockpile Gold Reserves Amid Geopolitical Concerns
Global central banks continued their streak of adding to their gold reserves in July, with institutions netting 23 tonnes for the month.
This marks a fourth consecutive month of gold accumulation by central banks, according to data from Kitco and the World Gold Council.
China led the charge, purchasing 20 tonnes to bring its total year-to-date acquisitions to 60 tonnes. Poland also added to its reserves, acquiring 8 tonnes and lifting its 2026 total to 90 tonnes.
The sustained buying by central banks is driven by concerns over geopolitical risks and the need to diversify their reserves away from traditional assets, such as the US dollar.
