CFTC Data Reveals Dip in Crude Oil Net Long Positions Amid Market Uncertainties
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) released its Commitments of Traders (COT) report, showing a decline in speculative net long positions in crude oil futures and options.
The latest figures indicate that the number of net long contracts held by money managers and other speculative traders decreased to 112.4K from 120.1K the previous week, representing a reduction of 7,700 contracts.
This drop in net long positions suggests that some traders are trimming their bullish exposure, possibly due to changing market conditions such as price volatility, inventory changes, or shifting expectations about global demand.
