Cheniere Boosts 2026 Profit Outlook on Rising US LNG Demand
Cheniere Energy, a Houston-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter, has raised its 2026 profit outlook after shipping more LNG cargoes. The company reported $1.8 billion in adjusted core profit for the three months ended June 30th, beating analyst forecasts of $1.72 billion.
The increase in LNG revenue to $5.64 billion from $4.52 billion is attributed to a 19% rise in shipments to 184 cargoes. Cheniere's regasification business stayed flat at $34 million during the same period.
The company has lifted its adjusted core profit forecast for 2026 to $7.9-8.4 billion from $7.25-7.75 billion, and tightened its production view to 53-54 million tonnes. Part of the confidence comes from additional plant capacity approved by regulators at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
The US remains the world's top LNG exporter, and once terminals are built, much of the cost base is fixed. This means that higher utilization can quickly lift profits.
