Cheniere Energy Profit Surges on LNG Demand Growth
Cheniere Energy reported a significant increase in second-quarter profit due to rising demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG), sending its shares up 2% in premarket trading. The company's revenue from LNG sales reached $5.64 billion, a notable increase from the previous year's $4.52 billion. This surge can be attributed to the growing global demand for LNG, with the U.S. emerging as the world's largest exporter of this supercooled fuel.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that in 2025, the country shipped an average of 15 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of LNG, a 26% increase from the previous year. This growth in exports is partly due to President Donald Trump's decision to lift the moratorium on new liquefied natural gas export permits.
Cheniere Energy's net income for the quarter ended June 30 was $3.07 billion, compared to $1.63 billion in the same period last year. The company's regasification revenues remained flat at $34 million during this time.
