Cheniere Energy Soars on Record LNG Demand
Cheniere Energy has reported a significant rise in second-quarter profits due to increased demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG). The company's net income reached $3.07 billion for the quarter ended June 30, up from $1.63 billion in the previous year.
The growth in LNG demand is largely attributed to the US being the world's largest exporter of the supercooled fuel, shipping 15 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in 2025, a 26% increase from 2024. This trend has been further boosted by President Donald Trump lifting a moratorium on new LNG export permits after taking office last year.
Cheniere Energy's revenue from LNG sales was $5.64 billion in the quarter, up from $4.52 billion a year earlier. Regasification revenues remained flat at $34 million. The company's shares rose 2% in premarket trading as a result of these positive earnings.
