Chennai Gold Price Drops by Rs 280 as Silver Holds Steady
On August 1, 2026, gold prices in Chennai dropped by Rs 280 per sovereign. This brings the current price to Rs 1,05,760 per sovereign and Rs 13,220 per gram.
The decrease is attributed to a drop of Rs 35 per gram from the previous day's price. Silver prices, however, remained unchanged at Rs 235 per gram (Rs 2,35,000 per kg).
A comparison with last year shows that gold prices have increased significantly, rising by 44.48% since August 1, 2025. On this day in 2025, the price of gold was Rs 73,200 per sovereign (Rs 9,150 per gram).
