Chennai Gold Price Jumps 41.84 Percent Year-over-Year

Gold prices in Chennai rose by Rs 1,120 per sovereign on September 8, reaching a price of Rs 1,14,160 per sovereign and Rs 14,270 per gram. This increase comes after a hike of Rs 140 per gram from the previous day's rate.

The current gold price is significantly higher than last year's rate, which was Rs 80,480 per sovereign (Rs 10,060 per gram) on September 8, 2025. The prices have increased by Rs 33,680 per sovereign or about 41.84 percent over the past year.

Silver prices remained unchanged at Rs 255 per gram (Rs 2,55,000 per kg) on September 8.
