Chennai Gold Price Plummets to Rs 114,960 Per Sovereign
The gold price in Chennai decreased by Rs 1,080 per sovereign on August 31, 2026. The current price of 22-carat gold is now at Rs 114,960 per sovereign and Rs 14,370 per gram.
This decrease follows the price drop of Rs 135 per gram from the previous day. In contrast, silver prices remained unchanged at Rs 260 per gram on August 31, similar to its price on August 29.
A comparison with last year's gold prices shows a significant increase. Gold prices have risen by 53.16 percent since August 29, 2025, when they were at Rs 75,760 per sovereign or Rs 9,470 per gram.
