Chennai Gold Prices Hold Steady Amid Sustained Growth
The price of gold in Chennai remained steady on August 7, 2026. According to current rates, one sovereign of 22-carat gold is priced at Rs 1,10,000, while its per-gram value stands at Rs 13,750.
Interestingly, the silver market also showed stability, with prices remaining unchanged from the previous day. Silver continues to be sold for Rs 250 per gram, equivalent to Rs 2,50,000 per kilogram.
A comparison of gold prices over the past year reveals a significant increase in value. From August 7, 2025, when gold was priced at Rs 75,200 per sovereign (Rs 9,400 per gram), to the current rate of Rs 1,10,000 per sovereign (Rs 13,750 per gram), there has been an increase of Rs 34,800 or approximately 46.27%.
