Chennai Gold Prices Plummet as 22K and 18K Rates Fall ₹170 Per Gram

Chennai gold prices dropped in the latest update from the Madras Jewellers & Diamond Traders Association (MJDTA) on September 5, 2026. The rates for both 22K and 18K gold fell by ₹170 per gram, while silver remained unchanged at ₹255 per gram.

The current price of 22K gold in Chennai is ₹14,190 per gram, down from ₹14,360 per gram in the previous update. At this rate, 8 grams (1 sovereign) of 22K gold costs ₹1,13,520, not including making charges, GST or other jewellery-related expenses.

The price of 18K gold in Chennai also declined to ₹11,960 per gram from ₹12,130 per gram previously. Silver prices remained unchanged at ₹255 per gram.
