Chennai Gold Prices See Major Shifts on September 3
Chennai's gold market saw significant changes on September 3, 2026, according to an update from the Madras Jewellers & Diamond Traders Association (MJDTA). The price of 22K gold rose by ₹290 per gram, while 18K gold declined by ₹290 per gram. In contrast, silver prices increased by ₹5 per gram.
The 22K gold rate in Chennai now stands at ₹14,240 per gram, up from ₹13,950 per gram in the previous update. Based on this new rate, buying 8 grams (1 sovereign) of 22K gold would cost ₹1,13,920, not including making charges or GST.
The 18K gold price in Chennai fell to ₹11,430 per gram from ₹11,720 per gram previously. This decline marks a ₹290 decrease per gram compared to the previous rate.
