Chennai Gold Prices See Uptick in 22K Rate

The Madras Jewellers & Diamond Traders Association (MJDTA) has released an update on gold and silver prices in Chennai, India. As of September 3, 2026, the rate for 22K gold increased by ₹290 per gram, while 18K gold fell by the same amount. The price of silver rose by ₹5 per gram.

The current price of 22K gold is ₹14,240 per gram, with an 8-gram sovereign costing ₹1,13,920, not including making charges or GST. In contrast, 18K gold saw a decline in price, falling to ₹11,430 per gram from the previous rate.

The silver rate has also seen an increase, rising by ₹5 per gram to reach ₹255 per gram. The rates are based on data recorded at 9:42 AM on September 3, 2026, and may change throughout the day due to market conditions and other economic factors.
