Chennai Gold Prices Surge 59% in One Year
On August 20, 2026, gold prices in Chennai surged by Rs 1600 per sovereign. The current price of gold is at Rs 1,16,800 per sovereign and Rs 14,600 per gram, after an increase of Rs 200 per gram from the previous day.
Silver prices also rose by Rs 10, reaching Rs 260 per gram or Rs 2,60,000 per kg on August 20. This marks a significant increase compared to last year's price, which was Rs 73,440 per sovereign and Rs 9,180 per gram on the same date.
Over the past five days, gold prices have fluctuated between Rs 1,13,640 and Rs 1,14,320 per sovereign. In comparison, silver prices remained relatively stable at Rs 250 per gram throughout this period.
