Gold prices in Chennai have been fluctuating throughout August 2026. On August 1st, the price of 24-karat gold was ₹1,44,370 per 10 grams, while on August 16th, it reached a high of ₹1,55,280. The lowest rate recorded this month was ₹1,44,140 on August 5th.

The overall performance for the month is rising, with a change of ₹10,910. In comparison to previous months, July saw falling prices, while June experienced a decline as well. May, however, had a rising trend, and April's performance was also upward.

Market volatility has been driving these fluctuations in gold prices. The purity of gold is measured in karats, with 24K being the purest form but too soft for jewelry. It is ideal for investment purposes. On the other hand, 22K gold is standard for traditional Indian jewelry and contains less gold but offers greater strength.
