Chevron Bangladesh: A Key Player in Bangladesh's Energy Needs

Bangladesh's economy relies heavily on energy, particularly natural gas, to keep its industries and households running. Chevron Bangladesh has been a key player in this effort for over three decades, investing more than $4.4 billion in the country since 1995.

The company is currently the largest producer of domestic natural gas and condensate in Bangladesh, supplying over 60% of the country's gas and more than 80% of its condensate from its operations at three gas fields in the Sylhet region: Bibiyana, Jalalabad, and Moulavi Bazar.

Chevron's workforce is largely Bangladeshi, with over 98% of its employees being local professionals who contribute to the company's technical, operational, and support functions. The company also runs social investment programs in health, education, economic development, and environmental stewardship, investing more than $15 million in these initiatives over the past 15 years.

These programs aim to deliver lasting benefits to local communities, supporting nine of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals. As Bangladesh continues to grow and meet its rising energy demands, Chevron's role in producing reliable domestic gas is likely to remain crucial.
