Chevron Doubles Down on Venezuelan Oil Production
Chevron has reached a deal to increase oil production in Venezuela, more than doubling current output to around 600,000 barrels per day. This move comes after years of turmoil and sanctions affecting the country's energy sector.
The Chevron CEO, Mike Wirth, stated that the company is confident in Venezuela's resource potential and its ability to compete for investment. He emphasized that improved terms and additional acreage will bring long-term value to the deal.
This expansion follows encouragement from former President Donald Trump, who urged oil companies to operate in Venezuela earlier this year. In fact, Chevron Vice Chairman Mark Nelson had previously met with the White House to discuss the potential for increased production.
