Chevron Drops $7 Billion on Venezuela Oil Ambitions
Chevron has made significant investments in Venezuela's oil sector, committing $7 billion over five years to its joint venture Petroindependencia.
The agreement, announced on Wednesday, aims to increase production to approximately 600,000 barrels per day, more than double the current level.
Chevron's total costs in Venezuela remain below $20 per barrel, which the company sees as favorable within its upstream portfolio.
U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright has been meeting with Venezuelan authorities and was present at the announcement of Chevron's new agreements.
