Chevron Joins Forces with Bapex to Boost Bangladesh Gas Supplies
Gas supplies to Bangladesh's industries are expected to improve today after the repair of a technical fault that disrupted ship-to-ship LNG transfer in July.
The issue was discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and business leaders, where energy supply emerged as one of the key concerns raised by the business community.
According to the energy ministry officials, LNG supply stood at 764 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) as of 4pm yesterday, but is expected to rise to 950-1,000 mmcfd from today.
Chevron has agreed to drill new wells in a joint venture with state-run Bapex, marking a shift from the US energy company's earlier position.
