Chevron's Guyana Growth Profile Takes Shape
Chevron's acquisition of Hess in July 2025 has brought a new growth profile to its portfolio, particularly with Guyana emerging as a distinct part of the company's longer-term production outlook.
The country's Stabroek Block is central to this outlook, with ExxonMobil having discovered more than 11 billion barrels of oil-equivalent. The block has seen rapid production growth since the Liza 1 development began producing in 2019, with four projects currently online and exceeding 900,000 barrels per day in 2026.
Guyana's growth profile differs from Chevron's pre-Hess portfolio, which included established production in various regions. Unlike the Bakken, Guyana requires significant upfront investment for large offshore developments, but once sanctioned, each development can add substantial production capacity.
