Chicago Markets See Mixed Results as Corn Futures Rise and Soybeans Fall
The closing markets for Monday, August 31 saw mixed results across various commodities on the Chicago Board of Trade. Corn futures were up, with December trading at $5.37 and March at $5.52.
Soybean futures took a hit, with November down a quarter to $12.87 and January steady at $13.02. Wheat futures also declined, with December down 8 cents to $7.75 and March down 8 cents to $7.89.
Live cattle futures were on the rise, with October up 92 cents to $212.65 and December up 85 cents to $214.57. Feeder cattle futures also increased, with September up 20 cents to $321.10 and October up 10 cents to $316.62.
The Andersons at Hensall reported the following crop prices: 2026 corn up 1 cent to $6.83 per bushel and 2027 corn up 2 cents to $6.40 per bushel. The 2026 crop soybeans were steady at $16.88 per bushel, while the 2027 crop soybeans were up 7 cents to $15.89 per bushel.
Snobelen Farms reported similar prices for their crops: 2026 corn up 1 cent to $6.78 per bushel and 2027 corn up 2 cents to $6.40 per bushel, with 2026 crop soybeans steady at $16.73 per bushel and 2027 crop soybeans up 7 cents to $15.74 per bushel.
