Chile's Copper Exports Plummet to One-Year Low Amid Storms

Chile's copper exports have hit a one-year low despite surging prices. According to central bank data, copper shipments were valued at $4.62 billion in August, down 14% from July and 3.2% from the same period last year.

This marks the lowest monthly tally since July 2025, when Chile's copper exports were similarly affected by severe winter storms and mine setbacks.

Copper prices have been on an upward trend, with the average price in August more than 40% higher than the year earlier. However, this rally has not been enough to offset the decline in shipments.
