China Agriculture Market Sees Fluctuations in Soybean and Edible Oil Prices
The Chinese agriculture market has seen some fluctuations in prices for various commodities, according to Mysteel's report on September 1, 2026. Soybean prices were steady at Yuan 4,940-5,060 per tonne last week due to slow auctions and downstream players' hand-to-mouth buying. However, reduced acreage supported the downside, while strong new-crop marketing expectations capped the upside.
Edible oil prices retreated from recent highs due to easing tensions in the U.S.-Iran conflict, which dragged crude oil prices lower. Despite this, vegetable oils are expected to remain firm due to structural support from palm oil production cuts under El Niño conditions and tight spot rapeseed oil supply in the near term.
Hog prices were flat at Yuan 10.97 per kilogram last week as ample supply and subdued demand weighed on the market. However, school reopenings may bring modest support to hog prices.
