China Blocks Enforcement of US Sanctions on Five Iranian Oil-Linked Companies
China's Ministry of Commerce has issued a blocking order to prohibit the enforcement of US sanctions against five Chinese companies linked to Iran's oil trade.
The US had imposed sanctions on Hengli Petrochemical (Dalian), Shandong Shouguang Luqing Petrochemical, Shandong Jincheng Petrochemical Group, Hebei Xinhai Chemical Group, and Shandong Shengxing Chemical over their involvement in oil transactions with Iran.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce described the US sanctions as an 'extraterritorial application' of US law, which violates international norms governing international relations.
The blocking order aims to protect China's sovereignty, security, and development interests, as well as the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and citizens.
