China Dominates Russian Gas Exports by 2030
Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced that China will account for more than 60% of Russia's total gas exports by 2030. This prediction comes as a result of the expansion of the Power of Siberia pipeline and the Far Eastern route, which significantly increases gas supplies to China.
According to Novak, in 2025, 38.8 billion cubic meters were pumped through the Power of Siberia pipeline, exceeding contractual obligations by a quarter more than the previous year. Russia remains China's top supplier of pipeline gas, and has become one of China's top three liquefied natural gas suppliers, with exports increasing over 50-fold in the past decade.
Novak also highlighted that Chinese companies are participating in major projects in Russia's Arctic region, with the Northern Sea Route being key to expanding energy shipments to China. He emphasized the need for Russia and China to build and modernize pipelines, ports, and energy infrastructure to strengthen bilateral energy cooperation.
