China's National Energy Administration (NEA) has outlined ambitious plans to increase domestic oil and gas production by 2030. The five-year plan targets 440 million tons of oil equivalent in domestic supply, building on a record 420 million tons reached in 2025.

The plan prioritizes 'independent energy security capacity,' with the goal of reducing dependence on global supplies and improving distribution capacity through pipeline expansion. To achieve this, China aims to add 12,427 miles of new long-distance pipelines by 2030, bringing its total network to 136,702 miles.

The plan also incorporates carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) projects to offset emissions generated by expanded fossil fuel output. An annual CO2 injection target of 10 million tons has been set through CCUS, and oil and gas fields are encouraged to develop solar, wind, and geothermal capacity.
