China Signals Concern Over US Economic War With Iran
China has signaled its concern over the United States' looming economic war with Iran by disclosing a meeting between its vice foreign minister and Iran's deputy foreign minister on August 17.
The meeting, which was previously undisclosed, comes as US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is set to unveil the US plan to shift from military strikes to sanctions and full-blown economic isolation against Iran.
According to reports, trade sources have told Reuters that offers of Iranian oil to Chinese buyers have significantly declined due to the US blockade on the Strait of Hormuz.
The timing of China's statement is likely a small signal to the US of its diplomatic communication with Iran in protest of the looming economic warfare.
