China Targets 440 Million Tons Oil, Gas Supply by 2030 with Ambitious Pipeline Expansion
China has set ambitious targets for its oil and gas industry by 2030. The country aims to increase its supply of oil and gas to 440 million tons, up from a recent record high of 420 million tons in 2025. To achieve this goal, China plans to add 20,000 km of long-distance oil and gas pipelines by 2030, bringing the total pipeline network to 220,000 km.
The new plan, jointly issued by the National Energy Administration (NEA) and the National Development and Reform Commission, highlights the importance of oil and gas in China's energy security and economic development. The country aims to raise its natural gas reserves to over 13% of national consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions through various initiatives.
The plan emphasizes the need for a modern oil and gas industry with stronger domestic supply capacity, efficient pipeline networks, and greener production methods. China also plans to promote international cooperation in the oil and gas sector and accelerate the development of renewable energy sources in oil and gas fields.
