China's Ministry of Natural Resources has confirmed a massive copper-gold deposit in Anhui Province, estimated to contain over 1 million tons of copper and more than 200 tons of gold. The deposit is located in the Chating area of Xuancheng City and spans approximately 1.2 km in length and 1.1 km in width.

The confirmed main ore body has a maximum thickness of 1,371 meters and is buried beneath volcanic rock, making it invisible from the surface. The deposit's copper resources exceed those of multiple large copper mines, while its gold reserves surpass those of more than ten large gold mines.

The discovery comes as China accelerates its resource acquisition efforts to reduce dependence on overseas strategic minerals, particularly in light of growing concerns about a global copper supply shortage. The International Energy Agency has projected that global copper supply could fall 25% short of demand by 2035.
