China's Conductive Materials Industry Enters Critical Period Amid Transformation
The conductor cable and electrical materials industry is entering a critical period of transformation and upgrading as China's '15th Five-Year Plan' is officially launched in 2026. The dual-carbon strategy, new-type power system, energy transition, and AI-enabled technologies are driving growth in sectors such as UHV, new energy, computing power centers, and NEVs, boosting demand for high-end copper and aluminum conductors and cable materials.
However, the industry is facing challenges including tight copper and aluminum raw material supply, fluctuating prices, geopolitical trade tensions, cost fluctuations, and intensifying competition. To address these issues, intelligent manufacturing and green low-carbon technologies are being adopted to drive quality improvement and upgrading across the industry.
The 2026 SMM Conductor Wire and Cable Industry Exhibition will be held on November 5-6 in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, bringing together resources from across the entire industry chain.
