China's Gold Imports Soar as Global Economic Data Takes Center Stage
China's gold imports surged to their highest level since March 2024 in June, sparking interest among market participants. The retail market primarily trades gold in two purities - 24-karat and 22-karat. While 24-karat gold is considered the purest form of gold, 22-karat gold is more commonly used for jewelry due to its added strength and durability from alloyed metals.
Gold prices remained largely stable on July 14, with Joyalukkas and Malabar Gold & Diamonds quoting ₹13,230 per gram across major Indian states. Tanishq's 22K gold rate stood at ₹13,260 per gram, while Malabar's 24-carat gold rate was ₹14,432 per gram.
Market participants will continue to monitor global economic data, US interest rate expectations, and currency movements for further direction in precious metal prices. The differences in retail prices are influenced by brand-specific pricing policies, procurement costs, and regional market conditions.
