Citi Predicts Silver Prices Will Reach $90 as Investment Demand Surges
Silver's price has seen significant fluctuations this year, but Citi analysts are predicting a rebound to $90 an ounce within six to 12 months. The metal has gained roughly 10% over the past month and 63% over the past 52 weeks, but a recent dip was short-lived.
Citi expects investment demand to drive the next leg of the rally, surpassing industrial demand from solar panels. The bank's analysts point to easing tensions in the Middle East as a key factor in their bullish outlook, which could lead to lower oil prices and interest rates, making precious metals more attractive to investors.
The global silver market is expected to remain in deficit through 2027, with demand from AI, 5G, and electric vehicles offsetting weakness in solar. The Silver Institute's World Silver Survey 2026 projects a 46.3-million-ounce deficit this year, marking the sixth consecutive year of supply shortfalls.
