Cleveland Diesel Prices Hit Record High Amid Iran War
Diesel prices in the Cleveland area have reached an all-time high of $6.50 per gallon at one gas station, according to a report by Cleveland 19 News. This surge in diesel prices is largely due to the ongoing war with Iran, which has disrupted the global flow of fuel and driven up the cost of crude oil.
The National Grocers Association notes that fuel accounts for up to 30% of the total cost of food, meaning that higher diesel prices can eventually lead to increased grocery bills. Drivers like Sixtos, who works for Dutch Maid logistics company, are already feeling the pinch, with a single fill-up costing him over $225.
The war with Iran has choked off crude oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, leading to a significant increase in diesel prices. American diesel prices have climbed nearly 56% since the start of the conflict, from around $3.76 per gallon to current levels of over $5.90 per gallon.
