CME Expands Gold Trading Hours to 24/7 on CME Globex
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has expanded trading hours for its 1-Ounce Gold Futures contract, allowing for near-continuous electronic trading on CME Globex. This change gives market participants broader access to react to global events and developments that occur outside traditional trading sessions.
According to the announcement, the expanded schedule applies to the 1-Ounce Gold Futures (1OZ) product only, not to spot XAUUSD or gold CFDs. Trading hours for these products continue to depend on the broker's schedule and liquidity providers.
The expansion of trading hours is expected to provide greater flexibility for traders to manage positions and respond more quickly to changing market conditions. However, it also raises concerns about increased volatility during low-liquidity periods.
