CME Gold Futures Soar to $60M in First Weekend
CME Group has launched a new 24/7 one-ounce gold futures contract designed for retail traders, and it saw significant interest during its first weekend. The product allows investors to gain continuous, regulated exposure to gold. In total, 15,000 contracts worth about $60 million were traded over the weekend.
This move reflects growing retail interest in gold as a financial asset. CME Group has seen record demand for gold futures in 2026, with an average daily notional value of $125 billion and a 55% year-over-year increase in precious metals trading.
