CME Group Sees Strong Demand for 24/7 Trading in Gold and Silver
CME Group reported strong demand for its new 24/7 trading offering in metals, particularly gold and silver. Over 140,000 contracts of 1-Ounce Gold futures have traded since July 24, totaling more than $600 million in notional value.
The company's 100-ounce Silver futures also saw significant demand, with over 2,387 contracts trading during the first weekend of 24/7 trading. This represents a notable increase in trading volume and demonstrates strong interest from retail traders in smaller-sized gold and silver contracts with round-the-clock access.
CME Group's metals business has experienced rapid growth across its franchise this year, averaging 1.3 million contracts traded daily in the first half of 2026, up 55% year-on-year. The company highlights that this growth is driven by precious metals activity, with a record $50 billion average notional traded each day across silver futures.
