CME Group Sees Strong Silver Trading in First Weekend of 24/7 Sessions
The CME Group has reported that its 24/7 trading sessions saw 2,387 silver futures trade over the first weekend. This marks a significant milestone for the platform, which aims to provide around-the-clock hedging and liquidity for market participants.
According to data from CME Group, the notional value of these trades was over $15 million, with many market observers viewing this as an early sign of retail and professional demand for off-hours risk transfer.
The introduction of 24/7 trading in silver follows a successful rollout in gold, where weekend contracts since July 24 have exceeded 140,000, representing a notional value of over $600 million. This indicates meaningful capital participation outside weekday hours.
