CME Group Sees Strong Trading Activity in 24/7 Precious Metals Market
CME Group has reported strong trading activity in its 24/7 precious metals market. The company announced that 2,387 100-Ounce Silver futures contracts traded during the first weekend of 24/7 trading, representing over $15 million in notional value.
This follows the successful uptake of 24/7 trading in gold, with over 140,000 contracts traded during weekend sessions since its launch on July 24. This represents more than $600 million in notional value and is the largest liquidity pool for weekend trading in Gold futures.
CME Group's Managing Director and Global Head of Metals, Jin Hennig, stated that 'Silver sits at the crossroads of precious and industrial metals' and that participants want round-the-clock access to manage both investment exposure and real-world supply risk.
