CME Silver Futures Trade $15M in First Weekend of Round-the-Clock Access
The CME Group recorded trading in 2,387 100-Ounce Silver futures contracts during its first weekend of round-the-clock trading, representing more than $15 million in notional value.
This milestone follows the introduction of weekend trading in the exchange's 1-Ounce Gold futures on July 24. Since then, over 140,000 gold contracts have traded during weekend sessions, totaling more than $600 million in notional value.
Jin Hennig, managing director and global head of metals at CME Group, noted that 'silver sits at the crossroads of precious and industrial metals, and our first weekend of 24/7 trading confirms participants want round-the-clock access to manage both investment exposure and real-world supply risk.'
The smaller contract uses the main COMEX Silver Benchmark for financial settlement. It recorded an average daily volume of 17,800 during the first half of 2026, equivalent to approximately $130 million in notional value.
