CNG Initiative Cuts Fuel Costs for Transport Operators by Up to 75%

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration has made significant strides in promoting Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as an alternative to petrol, particularly for commercial transport operators. According to Abiola Azeez, a State Executive Council member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), this initiative has led to a substantial reduction in fuel costs.

Abiola said that tricycle operators could spend between N15,000 and N17,000 daily on petrol, but only about N3,500 to N4,000 when operating on CNG. This cost difference is seen as a major relief for transport operators facing high operating expenses.

The ISTIJABAH has commended the Federal Government for deploying CNG-powered buses and tricycles, with some commercial vehicles receiving CNG installations at no cost to operators. The union also praised President Tinubu for the ongoing rehabilitation of roads across the country, which they believe will help reduce pressure on transport operators and commuters.
